The Marine Measurement Forum (MMF) has announced that the 70th edition, #MMF70, will be held at the Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium, UK, on Wednesday 28 January 2026.
This forthcoming event is hosted by Ocean Business, bringing together professionals from across the marine sector under the spectacular dome of one of the UK’s leading science engagement venues.
The choice of venue reinforces the growing parallels between deep-sea and space exploration, being two extreme environments that demand advanced technology, precision sensing, and autonomous systems. MMF70 will explore how innovations in one domain can accelerate understanding and breakthroughs in the other.
Set in the heart of Hampshire, the venue symbolically and scientifically represents the meeting of two frontiers, ocean and space, reflecting MMF70’s 2026 theme: “Where Ocean and Orbit Meet.”
“We are thrilled to be hosting MMF70 in a place that so powerfully connects two largely unexplored realms, particularly as the need for the satellite and space technology for navigation and remote data collection is ever increasing” said Cheri Arvonio, Ocean Business’ Portfolio Director.
“This edition of the Marine Measurement Forum event will highlight how knowledge-sharing between ocean and space science is essential to providing essential answers to help us understand our planet, and beyond.”
MMF will focus on challenges and innovations spanning; Harsh and remote environments, Autonomy and robotics, Sensing technologies and data precision, Cross-sector collaboration in Earth and planetary sciences.
As a platform for knowledge sharing across the marine and science sector, MMF70 will continue the Forum’s legacy as a not-for-profit, community-led event designed to foster dialogue, innovation, and collaboration within the marine measurement sector.
MMF is ideal for professionals across Marine Science & Research, Hydrography & Surveying, Offshore Energy, Defence & Security, Sensors & Instrumentation, Ports, Shipping & Infrastructure, Academia & Education, and Autonomy & Robotics.
The Call for Speakers for #MMF70 will be announced shortly. Prospective contributors from all corners of the marine and space sectors are encouraged to apply.
